About Dr. Misty Stafford

I am originally from the New Orleans metropolitan area and lived in five states before I decided to move to Maine with my family of four. When I am not seeing patients, you can typically find me listening to my favorite podcasts, binging my favorite TV shows, and “momming”.

I received my M.D. at Michigan State University where I earned honors in Psychiatry. My general psychiatry training was completed at the University of Massachusetts where I served as the Chief Resident in psychopharmacology as well as the Chief Resident for the psychiatric consultation-liaison service. My child and adolescent psychiatry training was completed at Brown University with a subspecialty focus in treating children and adolescents with autism and intellectual disorders, as well as expertise in treating general psychiatric disorders including anxiety, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and mood disorders.

While my particular areas of clinical interest include treating anxiety, OCD, and depressive disorders in children and adults, I also enjoy perinatal mental health and treating a wide variety of general psychiatric issues. I believe treatment works best with a combination of psychopharmacology (when needed) & psychotherapy, which is why I offer both services in my practice.
